Aerospace Engineering
As a Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) in Aerospace Engineering and Airport Operations, North Nottinghamshire College is totally committed to providing the very best in Aviation training.
Working collaboratively with strategic partners regionally, nationally and internationally it is our aim to develop the Midland Centre of Aerospace Training (MCAT) into a brand that is associated with training excellence. The centre offers a wide variety of Aerospace and other programmes ranging from Young Apprenticeships through to Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence, (EASA Part 66) programmes.
As of February 2007 the Aerospace Engineering CoVE became part of the newly formed Skills Academy based at East Midlands Airport (EMA) and is currently building up the portfolio of courses that will be delivered from the airport. The Aerospace CoVE will be offering a range of Aerospace Engineering programmes from September 2007 including a National Diploma in Aerospace Engineering.
The UK Aviation Industry is a highly trained and highly skilled environment regulated by the Civil Aviation Authority (UK). It is our mission to maintain these standards rigorously, progressing towards EASA Part 147 (Basic) providing well trained, experienced and competent individuals capable of progressing within the Aerospace sector.
Courses provide both excellent theoretical knowledge and practical experiences on a range of airframes, engines, wind tunnel and state of the art electronic/avionic equipment. Pathways into the Aerospace sector (Civil or Military) Apprenticeships or progression to Higher Education can be achieved by studying our National Diploma in Aerospace Engineering course (equivalent to 3 ‘A’ Levels), with all students currently on the programme undertaking trial flying lessons to compliment the underpinning knowledge gained within their Theory of Flight class.
The Aerospace centre has recently invested substantially in an avionic, electronic and aerodynamic facility providing opportunities for all level of learners within a modern, lively and vibrant learning environment. MCAT is continuously developing links with the Aerospace Industry, eager to engage in dialogue and listen to what Industry wants. Both BAe Systems and MyTravel Aircraft Engineering have offered support to the Aerospace Cove and recently we commenced an Apprenticeship training programme with Jet2.com. We have already successfully completed a two year Apprenticeship programme with Lufthansa Resource Technical Training and Jet Aviation.

"I cannot believe what I have achieved and where I am now after undertaking my Aircraft Engineering Apprenticeship and I would like to thank North Nott's College and Lufthansa Resource Technical Training for giving me this opportunity."
